E10 petrol: Eco-friendly fuel being introduced to filling stations
A new, more eco-friendly petrol called E10 is being introduced to filling stations in the UK.
It's hoped by replacing the current petrol grades in the UK, it will help cut annual emissions by 750,000 tonnes.
Every petrol vehicle built after 2011 should accept E10, and the government has set up a website where drivers can check if their car is compatible with the new fuel.

E10 petrol has been presented recently this year (2021) as an innovation to tackle the Climate Emergency, but in fact, it's just a combination of 90% regular unleaded petrol and 10% ethanol. Because of this ridiculous branding as clean fuel, many climate organizations have been calling for governments to remove it from pumps after some drivers have suffered a range of issues. An 'innovation' that, if looked closely, doesn't solve any of our problems. Even if you produce ethanol in a sustainable way, there's still another 90% of regular petrol having almost the same impact on the climate and health of the world population.
Meanwhile, Concentrated Solar Power, Wind, Geothermal and Tidal farms could be providing Green Hydrogen, a fuel with literally no climate or health impact. True Clean Energy has the potential to provide clean power to the world. Let us take our energy production in the right direction for our society and our planet! Let us aim for true clean energy!
