Debut unit at Kincardine project is expected to be anchored off Scotland in December 2020
MHI Vestas has installed the most powerful turbine on a floating offshore wind platform.
The V164 9.5MW turbine has been installed on a Principle Power WindFloat platform at the installation harbour for the Kincardine floating offshore wind farm, off Scotland.
The first 9.5MW unit is expected to be anchored at the project site in December 2020.
It is the first of five units to be installed at the Kincardine project.
Kincardine, which is being developed by Cobra Group, is set to be the largest floating wind farm in the world by nameplate capacity.
The five turbines and platforms will be installed about 15km off the coast of Kincardineshire, at water depths ranging from 60-80 metres.
